This is an old school project i did in late 2013.
Our assignment were to create a concept for a chocolate product,
and then create its package design.
C O N C E P T

My concept was inspired by the historical culture and the origin of the cultivated cocoa.
The indigenous people of Mexico, the Aztec, used the cocoa for entirely different reasons than we do today, and I wantet my product to reflect that level of historical integrity.
The product name, Aztek, with a “k” instead of a “c”, was a decision I made when regarding the norwegian target audience's significance in the project assignment. Aztec, in Norwegian,
is written “Aztek” — hence the brand name.
The product is made by 100% Criollo (Ocumare) so it is to be considered a refined and luxurious chocolate.

The package design for Aztek, is naturally inspired by the Aztec culture, art, and their architecture. The pattern on the white paper is inspired from the patterns on their alleged clothing, tattoos, wall engravings, drums, etc. The colors are derived from the Mexican flag, and the font was chosen in order to emphasize the historical integrity — hence serif fonts.
